Angiela is a certified counselor/therapist, internationally certified addictions counsellor and yoga teacher. Angiela's clinical experience spans over 15 years (since 1998) and she has worked with individuals from all walks of life from various parts of the world including Singapore, San Francisco and Toronto. She has provided counselling in outpatient and inpatient programs in community mental health and addictions, within prison, educational and hospital settings. Angiela believes in healing the whole person, mind/body and spirit using Western and Eastern modalities of healing. Her interests in Eastern healing approaches stemmed from my desire to help the people she serves to cultivate ways of achieving stillness within and learn to master their own physiology and mind. Fuelled by the desire to make her practice more whole, she travelled to India to receive training in yoga and meditation under the Gurukula system (traditional way of imparting knowledge directly from Guru to students while students live in the Guru’s home). Using the techniques she has learned for her own healing, she has also been able to tailor those techniques to suit her clients’ needs. Holding an anti-oppressive, holistic and mindfulness perspective, her approach to clients engenders respect, trust, compassion and a sense of empowerment. As a therapist, Angiela believes in personal and professional development in order to be effective to her clients. Angiela continues to learn and develop her yoga and meditation practice and clinical skills.
Angiela believes in a client-centered and holistic approach to healing. She views her clients as individuals who possess wisdom and intuition. As a therapist, She serves to help them connect to their inner wisdom and knowing. Therapy is not just an intellectual process. Instead, attention will be paid to you as a whole being, where physical and mental health, emotional well-being, and spiritual beliefs and values will be acknowledged. Exploring the meaning and poetry behind your distress, you will not feel judged but instead, learn to embrace and accept yourself with compassion. As a result, you begin to experience change and healing. Taking a holistic approach, you can learn to find the tools to help you live your desired life, connect with your true self, and find personal power and inner peace.
By offering a safe, open, non-judgmental and trusting space, Angiela helps her clients to reclaim their voices, reconnect with their inner selves and heal.
