Patrick Beedling is a psychotherapist who lives and works in the Greater Toronto Area. Patrick holds a B.A. (History) from Yale University and an M. Ed. (Counselling Psychology) from University of Toronto. Prior to working in Mental Health, Patrick worked in Advertising in New York City. He remains active in Ontario’s independent music scene as a singer-songwriter, and believes that creativity and self-expression have the power to help people heal from psychological difficulties. While pursuing graduate studies in Counselling Psychology, he facilitated a weekly creative writing group at Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).
Patrick’s therapeutic background includes training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Gestalt, Mindfulness, Existentialist and Interpersonal techniques, and he continues to draw from these approaches, and others, to meet the unique needs of his clients.
Above all, Patrick believes in a person-centered approach that focuses on the individual with whom he is working. No two people are exactly alike, and Patrick strives to understand the unique strengths and issues of each one of his clients so that he can collaborate with them more effectively on making positive changes. In the past he has worked with individuals struggling with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, childhood abuse, post-immigration experiences, self-esteem, self-harm, relationship problems, addictions, and complaints arising from chronic pain.
Patrick’s office is located at 10 Gillingham Drive in Brampton, Ontario, and he is available to meet with adolescents and adults for short or long-term psychotherapy.
